Called Amee Farm, the 12-room lodge is located in Pittsfield, Vermont on Route 100 (about 10 miles from Killington).
Designed for sustainable living, Amee Farm – http://www.ameefarm.com – features organic bed and bath linens, as well as organic toiletries. Rooms also feature king, queen and double beds.
The property’s on-site operations are fueled by hydroelectric, geo thermal and solar; there is soy insulation throughout and the interior is dressed with milk paint.
As well, Amee Farm boasts a solar green house across the road servicing its organic gardens. In season produce is available at an on-premise farm stand. A new working barn is designed to accommodate a herd of Scottish Highlanders, sheep and chickens.
Amee Farm can host weddings, corporate events, themed retreats and sporting events -- http://www.peak.com and http://www.peakcamps.com -- with its 4,000 square feet of flexible event space that includes a country-style private dining room staffed by its own kitchen on premise. Food preparations focus on Vermont fresh, organic and local.
The original homestead dates to 1793. The grounds once housed a whiskey distillery and equipment for producing potash, highly regarded for its chemical qualities and today as a staple ingredient of fertilizers.
